Your First Pilates Class in Miami: What to Expect, Wear and Bring
·5 min read

The short answer
Book Pilates Sculpt or the free Community Sculpt class, use the intro offer (two classes for $50), wear fitted clothes and grip socks, bring water and a towel, and arrive ten minutes early. Mats and equipment are provided, the room is not heated, and there's parking at the studio.
Which class should you book first?
Every class at The Core Collective is built to scale, so there's no wrong place to start. Instructors show a lighter option for anything that doesn't suit your body that day. That said, two classes make the easiest first visit:
- Pilates Sculpt: closer to classical mat pilates, with more time spent on sequencing, breath and form. It's the class regulars recommend when a friend asks where to start.
- Community Sculpt: our free community class. Same work, same instructors, no card on file. Spots go quickly and are announced in the WhatsApp chat first.
Not sure which suits you? Our guide to every class by goal walks through all seven.
How to book (and the intro offer)
Pick a class on our schedule page and book it there. New clients get two classes for $50: choose the intro offer at checkout. After that, a single class is $40, and class packs bring the price down to as little as $31.50 a class.
Classes are capped small, so popular times fill up. Booking a day or two ahead is the safest bet for evenings and weekends.
What to wear
- Fitted workout clothes: leggings or bike shorts and a top that won't ride up when you're on your back. Instructors correct form hands-on, and it helps when they can see how you're moving.
- Grip socks for all the mat classes. They keep you steady on the mat and are standard at most pilates studios.
- Trainers if you've booked Dance Cardio Sculpt instead.
What to bring
- A water bottle.
- A small towel.
- That's it. Mats, weights, bands, sliders and every other piece of equipment are provided.
When to arrive
Ten minutes before your first class, so we can get you set up and show you around. After that, five minutes is plenty.
Getting there and parking
The studio is at 8230 NE 2nd Ave in Little River, Miami (33138). There's parking at the studio, plus street parking along NE 2nd Ave and the surrounding blocks. Directions and a map are on our contact page.
What the class actually feels like
Most classes run 55 minutes. The room is not heated. The work is slow and controlled: long holds, small pulses and light weights that target the stabilizing muscles most workouts skip, like the deep core, glutes, inner thighs and shoulders. It's low impact, with no jumping or running, but don't mistake slow for easy. Expect to shake in the last minute of a set, and to feel it for a day or two afterwards.
If you're pregnant, recovering from an injury or managing a condition, check with your doctor first and tell your instructor before class so they can adjust things for you.
After your first class
Use your second intro class within the same week or two while the movements are fresh, and join the WhatsApp community chat for last-minute spots and free community classes.
