Hot Pilates vs Non-Heated Pilates: Which Should You Choose?
·3 min read

The short answer
Hot pilates is taught in a heated room, so you sweat more and it feels more intense. Non-heated pilates is taught at a normal room temperature, so the challenge comes from the work itself and your attention stays on form. Non-heated is the more comfortable choice if you don't tolerate heat well or are pregnant.
What is hot pilates?
Hot pilates is a pilates class taught in a heated room. The heat makes you sweat more and raises your heart rate, so the class feels harder, and some people love that intensity.
What is non-heated pilates?
Non-heated pilates is taught at a normal, comfortable room temperature. The challenge comes entirely from the work: slow tempo, long holds, small pulses and time under tension. You still sweat and you still shake, but because of the exercise, not the thermostat.
Why we keep the room cool
- Form comes first. Pilates is precise. Without heat to fight, it's easier to concentrate on alignment and breath, and to notice when something is off.
- Strength you can measure. When the room is comfortable, the burn you feel is the muscle working, so it's easier to tell when you're actually getting stronger.
- More people can join. Heat isn't for everyone. A non-heated room is the more comfortable choice if you run warm, get light-headed in heat, or are pregnant. Medical guidance commonly advises avoiding heated exercise classes during pregnancy, so check with your doctor.
- It's Miami. It's warm enough outside already.
Is non-heated pilates still a hard workout?
Yes. Our classes use light weights, bands and long holds to work the small stabilizing muscles until they shake, and most people feel it for a day or two afterwards. Pilates Strength adds heavier weights, and Dance Cardio Sculpt gets your heart rate up without any heat at all.
Every class at The Core Collective is non-heated. See this week's times on our schedule page.
Quick answers
Is non-heated pilates less effective than hot pilates?
No. The work itself builds the strength. Heat makes a class feel harder and makes you sweat more, but a non-heated class lets you focus on form and load the muscles properly.
Is The Core Collective heated?
No. Every class at The Core Collective in Little River, Miami, is non-heated.
